In Touch Games Is Penalized by the UKGC
The UKGC has recently issued the third financial enforcement action against In Touch Games. This time, the company is obliged to pay a fee of £6.1 million. The firm was already charged £2.2 million in 2019 and £3.4 million in 2021.
The UKGC’s Executive Director of Operations, Kay Roberts, mentioned that considering the operator’s previous failings, the regulatory body expected to see improvements during the latest assessment. However, there still were many things to be done.
The major In Tough Games’ failure was meeting social responsibility requirements. For example, the company did not interact with a customer flagged for “erratic” patterns and extended periods of play for seven weeks. Besides, another user was taken on their word that they earned £6,000 a month without any verification. Aside from these issues, the operator was penalized for its lack of policies, procedures, and controls on such cases and for not sufficiently considering the UKGC’s own guidance. Lastly, it was mentioned that In Touch Games had not ensured its policies were efficiently implemented. For example, it failed to follow its procedure to request a source of income from players depositing and spending over £10,000 within a year.
The UKGC keeps monitoring online licensees under the leadership of CE Andrew Rhodes. On taking charge of the Commission, he had warned the UK operators that he would not tolerate “repeat offenders.” He said the same operators are being noticed committing the same offenses several times. He called it a recidivist behavior and emphasized those companies would meet fines as a compliance measure.
